These New Patented Miniature Weeping Crape Myrtles
1 The Length of the Blooming Season. Our patented Mini Crapes begin blooming in mid to late May and continue blooming throughout the summer until about October or the first frost. Total blooming period is mid-May through October… 5 to 6 months!
2. Time of Bloom. Just as important as the length of the blooming period is the SEASON. Our plants bloom during the hottest summer months when most other plants are finished.
3. Cold Hardy. Our Mini Crapes can be used as a landscape plant and still be hardy to Zone 5. That's most of the U.S., including the Mid-West, Northeast, Sun Belt and the West Coast. But possibly its greatest use may be as a blooming pot plant and/or hanging basket. In a 6" pot or 8" hanging basket the plants are cold hardy to minus-15°F when left outdoors.
4. Heat Tolerance. Another excellent selling point: the only perennials that have thrived and bloom during mid-summer heat waves are Crepe Myrtles.
5. Versatility These Mini Crape Myrtles can go from a rooted cutting to a 6" pot or 10" basket for Mother's Day and All-Summer Bloom. Since I have genetically bred crepe myrtle trees into miniatures, some have called them "instant bonsai".
6. Attractiveness of Foliage. Many have called the Mini Crape Myrtles "foliage plants that bloom".
7. Energy Efficient. They have been called the "Plant of the New Millennium for their ease of growing and versatility.
8. Speed of Crop. Plants to Mature Size in 120 days.
9. Length of Salable Plant Material. From Mother's Day through October, the plant is in full bloom.
10. Patented. All of our varieties have United States of America Plant Patents.
11. Breeding & Research Potential. We are constantly developing new varieties, colors, earlier bloomers. We are currently engaged year 'round flower and bloom forcing experiments.
